I would love to know where this Japanese market is in Phoenix. I want to make a stab at doing my own sushi (maybe take a class) and then have a sushi party when the weather cools! We did find a place next to Zen 32 (Camelback & 32nd St) that has fresh Alaskan fish.

Congrats Jeff on becoming a sushi-chef expert. Luckily, I have my own teacher living with me :) This is one of the perks of marrying a Japanese girl. Hee hee. All you need is some rice vinegar, nori (seaweed), and some fish or vegetables. Poor man's sushi can be simply rice, cucumbers, egg, and avacado. Good stuff and cheap!

I hope you have some fun making some tasty and healthy food.

I don't think it should be that difficult really ... the important part is only buying FRESH saltwater fish, which is hard enough in Az. I'll keep you posted on what I learn!
